Program Overview:

The BUILD Project Leadership Program in Integrated Population, Health, Environment & Development (PHED) is a transformative opportunity for young leaders. Funded by USAID, the five-year BUILD project, led by AFIDEP, seeks to develop the next generation of PHED leaders, with a focus on women and young people.

Cohort 1 in Malawi:

The inaugural training for the Southern Africa region will take place in Malawi. The first cohort is scheduled for February 5-16, 2024, and the second cohort’s training will follow from April 22 to May 3, 2024. Approximately 20 participants from Malawi, Zambia, and Zimbabwe will be admitted for each cohort.

Program Highlights:

- Duration: 12-day in-person training in Malawi, followed by 12 months of virtual sessions.

- Eligibility: Ages 18-29, proficient in English, citizens of Malawi, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, with at least a high school degree.

- Content: Modules on integrated PHED approach, leadership, systems thinking, strategic communications, gender and youth integration, entrepreneurship, and more.

- Tuition Fees: Covered by organizers, including travel, accommodation, medical expenses, and meals during the initial training.
